Guy Sebastian to perform at ‘Australia Celebrates Live’ concert
One of Australia’s best loved current artists, Guy Sebastian will perform at the Australia Celebrates Live concert on the lawns of Parliament House on Australia Day Eve.
Since becoming our first Australian Idol winner in 2003, Guy Sebastian has gone on to become one of our country’s greatest singers and performers. This will be his second appearance on the line up for the Concert, performing for the first time in 2004.
Project Manager for Australia Day, Fiona Dolan, said Guy Sebastian was a fantastic addition to the concert line up and joins previously announced artists Jimmy Barnes and The Presets as key acts for Australia Celebrates Live.
"This year we have an absolutely amazing line up for the concert. The calibre of artists is just exceptional, and we can’t wait to welcome Guy Sebastian back to the stage on Australia Day Eve right here in Canberra," Dolan said.
Following a sold-out national tour in June, Guy released his seventh album, ‘Armageddon’, in October. The album featured four highly successful singles: ‘Don’t Worry, Be Happy’, ‘Gold’, ‘Battle Scars’ (featuring Lupe Fiasco) and ‘Get Along’. ‘Battle Scars’ was Guy’s sixth number one song in Australia, and he performed it on ‘The Late Show with David Letterman’ in the U.S. in September. It was also used in the U.S. promotion for the movie ‘Red Dawn’.
Meanwhile, Guy has continued his winning ways as a mentor on ‘The X Factor’. Last season’s winner, Reece Mastin, and this year’s, Samantha Jade, both came from his team.
In March, Guy will start touring Australia with his sold-out tour ‘Get Along’.
Dolan said she encouraged everyone to come along and enjoy this wonderful celebration of Australian music.
"January 25 is a Friday this year, which makes this event the perfect start for your Australia Day long-weekend. What better way to start celebrating our national day than a fantastic concert at Parliament House in Canberra, as our capital city marks its centenary?" said Dolan.
