Guy Sebastian's second album out soon
MELBOURNE Aug 5 - Malaysian-born Australian Idol winner Guy Sebastian's second album is due to hit record stores in October.
"I have got to work with some amazing people (for the second album) and it is just amazing having the public support that I have had," Sebastian is quoted by the Australian Associated Press as saying.
Sebastian, formerly of Klang, beat fellow Idol contestant Shannon Noll to the crown last November, securing a recording contract with label BMG Australia.
His debut single "Angels Brought Me Here" had one of the fastest-selling first weeks in Australian chart history and the album, "Just As I Am", spent four weeks at the top of the Australian charts.
Sebastian has been based in the United States for the past four months, collaborating with some of his favourite artists including his idol, singer/producer Brian McKnight.
The first single, "Out With My Baby", will be released on Sept 20, while the album has been slated for an October issue.
"It is kind of like a funk 70s retro with a fat modern beat," Sebastian said of the single. "And then is the classic R and B stuff as well and some beautiful ballads."
Sebastian, now in Australia for a brief visit, will head back to the US next week before jetting off to Sweden to complete the album.
"It has been great formulating where I have wanted to go with the style and just with the sound of the album," he said.
Australian Idol judge Mark Holden suggested Sebastian, who is strongly religious, should try a Christian album.
"I reckon really soon he needs to make a move into contemporary Christian and look at the world as his market, not just Australia," Holden is reported saying.
"The Australian pop business is a fickle, brutal business which generally has diminishing returns." - Bernama

Guy's website has been updated..........here is the latest.
GUY SEBASTIAN RETURNS WITH EDGY NEW SINGLE & ALBUM SET FOR OCTOBER RELEASE
Guy Sebastian is set to return to centre stage as the first new material post his 6 x platinum debut album 'Just As I Am' is unleashed in the coming weeks. Having just returned from a 4 month songwriting trip overseas, Guy Sebastian is extremely excited about what will be Australia's first taste of his new album, the upbeat & funky single "Out With My Baby". "Out With My Baby" was co-written by Guy and Robin Thicke, the renown US R&B artist who was responsible for one of last year's biggest breakout hits 'When I Get You Alone'. The song provided one of Guy's highlight performances on the Australian Idol series last year. Produced also by Robin Thicke and recorded in LA, "Out With My Baby" is just one of the songs overseas luminaries have had a hand in writing or producing for Guy's new record. While working with his very own idol, Brian McKnight, has certainly been one of the highlights of Guy's sophomore effort, other collaborators include Beau Dozier (Boyz II Men, Joss Stone), Billy Mann (Pink, Kelly Rowland, Anastacia), Phil Thornalley (Natalie "Torn") and Cutfather & Joe (Jamelia "Superstar"). "Out With My Baby", with it's get down groove and infectious lyrics, will definitely make the industry and his adoring fan base sit up and take notice. The commercial single will feature remixes of the track, including one with a guest rap by the highly respected US act Clipse. The video for "Out With My Baby" was shot last week in Sydney by ARIA Award winning 'Babyfoot' director's Michael Gracey and Pete Commins (Will Young, Delta Goodrem, 1200 Techniques), and is, as you'd expect, nothing short of a world class clip. Having recently returned to Australia in time to collect his 3 ARIA #1 Awards for his singles, "Angels Brought Me Here" (4 x platinum and the fastest selling single in Australian music history), "All I Need Is You", and debut album, Just As I Am (6 x platinum and highest ever album sales in one week for ANY album in Australian chart history*), the anticipation for Guy's new material couldn't be a better indication of what an impact this truly gifted musician has made on the Australian public. "OUT WITH MY BABY" will be unleashed to Australian media on August 23 and in stores on September 20. Guy's new album is scheduled for release in October this year.

Final's a Guy thing By Luke Dennehy 21aug04
THE AFL looks likely to announce that Guy Sebastian will sing the national anthem on Grand Final day.
Sources confirmed to the Herald Sun that the Australian Idol winner has agreed to sing on September 25. Sebastian will sing the anthem and Waltzing Matilda. At last year's Grand Final, he sang with the 11 other Idol finalists.
Delta Goodrem was rumoured to be singing at the event, but has overseas commitments.
Goodrem was the first choice in 2003, before she was diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma.
The AFL will announce more details about pre-match entertainment soon. Included in Grand Final week will be a new event on Wednesday, September 22, tipped to be an invitation-only party.
There will also be emphasis on producing a more entertaining and visual Brownlow Medal count, to be held at Crown on September 20.

19-Aug-04 FINALISTS ANNOUNCED FOR 2004 BEST NEW AUSTRALIAN ARTIST ON RADIO
Commercial Radio Australia today announced five finalists for the award for Best New Australian Artist on Commercial Radio for 2004, sponsored by Austereo, as part of the Australian Commercial Radio Awards.
They are: Guy Sebastian, Jet, John Butler Trio, Pete Murray and Shannon Noll.
This Award, sponsored by Austereo for the fifth year in a row, is designed to contribute to the development of new artists or groups based in Australia, with the winner receiving $50,000 worth of airtime across Austereo’s 2DAY and Triple M networks to promote current or future releases.
The 2004 finalists all made the Top 50 singles chart for the first time during the judging period (1 July 2003 – 30 June 2004), and remained there for ten weeks or more. The finalist list was developed in consultation with the Australian Record Industry Association (ARIA) and The Music Network.
The winner is decided by vote from commercial radio program and music directors, using eight criteria including the artists’ potential to succeed, the appeal of the original material performed, their credibility as a performer, willingness to participate in commercial radio promotions, listener requests, willingness to tour Australia, chart position obtained and CD sales.
Chief executive officer of Commercial Radio Australia, Joan Warner said the award is an example of commercial radio stations’, and Austereo in relation to this award, commitment to providing a development platform for new music talent in Australia.
“It's been a phenomenal year for new Australian talent - it’s going to be very tough to pick one winner as all the finalists have had a huge debut,” Ms Warner said.
“As part of the radio industry’s commitment to fostering new Australian talent, we are also holding the third New Music to Radio Showcase (NM2R) at the Gold Coast on October 15 which features up to seven new Australian artists who perform in front of the radio industry for the first time.”<br> The 2004 Australian Commercial Radio Awards are organised by Commercial Radio Australia, on behalf of the industry. The Awards include 28 categories, which cover all areas of radio broadcasting including news, talk, comedy, sport and music across metropolitan, provincial and country radio stations in most categories. Winners of the 2004 Awards, the 16th annual event, will be announced at a gala ceremony to be held at the Gold Coast Convention Centre on October 16. Master of ceremonies (MC) for the night is renowned Austereo radio personality, Kyle Sandilands.
The 2004 ACRAs will once again enjoy the support of Arbitron, Nielsen Media Research, Australian Retirement Fund, RCS Sound Software, Comsyst and The Music Network.
GOOD LUCK GUY

BMG has scrapped Guy Sebastian's latest music video at a cost of more than $100,000 after concerns that his image was becoming 'too pop'.
The clip for the single Out With My Baby featured the Australian Idol star singing in a recording booth while his daydreams were reflected in the glass around him. Sebastian's label pulled the plug on the clip, shot by award-winning directors Michael Gracey and Peter Commins, and will re-shoot it with more of a hip-hop edge.
"If you're managing a rock star, image is hugely important," says Commins, who with Gracey won an ARIA for the music video of 1200 Techniques' Karma.
"It's not like they hated the clip - they're still paying for it - they just had second thoughts about how they wanted to promote Guy."
Commins' and Gracey's Babyfoot Productions have created music videos for Delta Goodrem and the Sugarbabes, as well as a mind-blowing clip for UK Idol's Will Young.
"Obviously, it's disappointing when something like this happens, but that's the industry we're in," Commins says.
We all know that it was Guy who pulled the plug........(probably too many scantily clad boob tube wearing bimbos.......hanging all over him.....hmmm sounds like a terrible job lol)
